Round Robin Guest Blog: Shelli Rosewarne

Hi Rebekah,

Thanks so much for letting me drop by today. Since I don’t have a new release out at the moment I thought I would talk (or ramble) a little about writing in general and this topic was rather inspired by a manuscript I was sent by a new author.

This manuscript was very well written, the characters were engaging, I liked the dialogue but overall it didn’t ‘grip’ me. The reason why was a lack of serious conflict.

I think conflict can be a very tricky concept โ€“ especially for new writers (though even those who have been at a while aren’t immune to issues!). It’s so easy to either overload it to the point where you’re feeling a bit dizzy by the end of it with all the major, death-defying problems the characters have had to cope with or undersell it and at the end you’re feeling a little under-whelmed and perhaps a little ‘was that it?’

While it might seem a little cruel to torture your poor characters with trials and tribulations, it’s through conflict that we generally start to relate to them, to feel for them – and more importantly to start rooting for them! The best books I read are those where the conflict is so well woven that by the end you’re on the edge of your seat – you desperately want everything to work out for them but you just can’t see how it’s ever going to. While in romance we might expect a ‘happy ever after’ then it’s the journey to it that draws us in.

So, let’s all live up to our ‘evil authors’ label and add a little suffering in there. It’s good for the soul โ€“ and the storyline!

Thanks so much for having me. If you’d like to follow me, you can find me at:

Lee Brazil Guest Blog: Temptation

Hi everyone, Lee Brazil is here today as part of the Breathless Press Round Robin Tour. ย He’s going to tell us all a little bit about “temptation” and then give us information on his new book of the same name ๐Ÿ™‚ Enjoy!

Good morning! Thank you Rebekah for hosting me here at your blog today. I am Lee Brazil, author of m/m romance for Breathless Press, Silver LB_Temptation_200Publishing, and Evernight. I write primarily contemporary romances, but I have been known to stray into the realms of paranormal and regency era fiction as well. Regardless of the vehicle, the underlying theme of my books is that everyone deserves to love and be loved.

Now, they didn’t give me an assigned topic for this little jaunt, and that is probably going to work out okay because I’m going to talk about Temptation. Not my book, Temptation, but temptation, as in โ€ฆ a desire to do something, especially something wrong or unwise.

The origin of this word is from the Latin temptare meaning ‘handle, test, try’.

And that’s pretty much what we do on this earth. We’re surrounded all our lives by things that tempt us. It’s our job to resist.

The alarm goes off in the morning. Brrrriiinnngg

Temptation rears its ugly head. “This bed is soft and warm, you’ve got the pillow exactly where it fits best. Sleep five more minutes, there’s plenty of time.”

The light on the coffee pot turns orange. You’re spooning sugar and pouring cream in your cup. Temptation is there again. “Two spoons of sugar won’t hurt just once. A Double dose of cream will make that perfect.”

We aren’t all tempted by the same things. When I’m shopping, it’s difficult for me to resist a good cheese, or a nice crusty loaf of fresh baked bread even though I know Iโ€™m going to regret the calories and carbs. When I’m feeling down, I can’t resist crawling in bed with a good book when I know damned well I should be working or writing or something. I’ve got a friend who can’t resist a good bargain on a pair of shoes, and another who can’t pass up a piece of pie no matter what diet he’s on.

Some temptations are easier to resist than others. I have no trouble saying no to chocolate or ice cream, or even pie. Saying no to a new cd by favorite artist? Oh yeah, that’s difficult. Saying no to a new book when my TBR pile is over a hundred titles long? Yeah, that’s challenging.

What tempts you? How good are you at resisting the allure of the forbidden?

Some Temptations are easy to resist, others you have no choice but to give in. And giving in, is sometimes the best thing for you! Lake Wynters finds that out in Temptation.ย

Temptation by Lee Brazil

An m/m Contemporary menage

Blurb

After a hot interlude at a holiday party, Lake Wynters and Solomon Arsdale exchange phone numbers but not promises. Lake is fine with that until something happens he’s never experienced. As days pass without Solomon calling, Lake discovers he just can’t forget the sexy older man. Giving in to temptation, he takes matters into his own hands and visits Solomon at his office, breaking his own dating rules.

Waiting in Solomon’s office, Lake is shaken to the core by how much Solomon’s acknowledgement of their encounter means to him, and how much more he wants it to lead to.

But when the door he’s eagerly watching opens, it brings new temptation in the form of Adonis Kosmias. Adonis isn’t anything like Solomon. Not many would call him beautiful. His features are too harsh, his body too angular. But he moves with fluid grace and his hair falls in perfect waves and his eyes sparkle with warmth. From the first touch of his hand Lake is thrown into even greater confusion. So distracted by Adonis’s touch is he, that when Solomon finally makes an appearance, their hands are still clasped.

Meeting Solomon again while holding hands with another man wasn’t in Lake’s plan. Neither was anything that happened afterward.

November 19:ย  Live To Readย  ~Krystal
November 19:ย  DanaSquare
November 20:ย  Novelย  Reflections
November 21:ย  The Masqueradeย  Crew
November 22:ย  Musingsย  From An Addicted Reader
November 23:ย  Words ofย  Wisdom from The Scarf Princess

A Week Later….

Well, peeps….I have returned from my vacation in New Orleans. Run down, tired, but happily recovering from a terrific week with friends and fun. ย When I arrived last friday, on the day of the release, there was a cake waiting on me at the hotel. We had a bit of a book release party on the fifth floor of La Pavillon. Fun times. (I love my friends!)

During the weekend the book became available via four online retailers:

Breathless Press

Amazon

All Romance eBooks

Bookstrand

Yes, it is only digital format only at the moment. If sales are decent enough it could go to print, which would be amazing. ๐Ÿ™‚

I have heard from a few readers who have enjoyed WSN, and it thrills me that it is getting positive feedback! I don’t want to be one of those authors that hound you for reviews so I am going to get it said here, and leave the subject alone: please do not be afraid to review the books. Particularly at Amazon and on Goodreads will help it the most, I believe. I know many a reader who take reviews into consideration before buying a book from a new author, so this could help me out a lot! Just sayin’. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Further more, I linked it on facebook while I was out but Lee Brazil crawled into bed with Pan last weekend. See the interview here.

And mark your calendars because I will be spending the day at Bitten By Books on November 27 doing a guest blog, hanging with the readers in the comment section, and doing a giveaway of a $25 Amazon gift card and some copies of WSN.

Wicked SatyrDay Winners

It’s about a quarter till noon EST, but we are getting ready to go out for the day, so I put the names on folded up pieces of paper in a clutch purse in place of a hat and had my lovely assitant Jenn draw the names at random.

The winner from my site is: Sharon G

The winner from goodreads is: Dawn

Congratulation. My email is lewis.rebekah@rocketmail.com, contact me with your email and your prefered ebook format and I will get that to you this weekend (when I return to the hotel LOL)

Wicked Satyr Nights is ON SALE NOW!

It’s time! It’s time!ย  Wicked Satyr Nights is on sale now from Breathless Press!

As of now this is the only place to buy it, but the buy link will start popping up on Amazone and All Romance Cafe and elsewhere within the next week.

Don’t forget to to comment on the Wicked SatyrDay Giveaway posts on this site and goodreads for a chance to win a copy. The contest closes tonight, winners picked at random on Saturday afternoon!

Stop back by the Breathless Press Blog for an interview with Pan! (side note: One of the questions asks “on a man” at the end of it. It should have been edited to not say this, but it is still showing on the post. Pan answers about himself. WSN is a M/F novel, though he is from ancient Greece so he doesn’t mind M/M, but he prefers women.ย  This should be adjusted soon.)

And on that note, I am off to the airport for a week of chaos in the Big Easy! Enjoy!
